The Journey to Freedom

Updated: Dec 24, 2021

The first chapter: How the hell did I even get here??

Some have different views on what freedom means to them. For me its living a life with little to no boundaries. It is when I wake up in the morning and love the location I am in or the space that my mind is occupying at that moment. Freedom does not have to be tied down to one thing. And it damn sure is not one size fits all!!

“Freedom is personal. Freedom is a choice. Freedom is you being the best you you could possibly be for yourself.”

For so long I have felt tied down to "what has to be done" or "what I SHOULD be doing". Having unrealistic expectations to how far along in life I should be because I am "TOO OLD TO BE IN THIS POSITION". Or because "I should have been successful by NOOOWW". I mean, there is always a timeline for these kinds of things, right?

Graduate high school by 18, college by 22, get your masters degree by 24-25ish,get your dream job in that same year, then you run into the man(or woman)of your dreams and get married by 28. Oh and lets not forget the kids by the ripe age of 30!

That is the life that we were TOLD we should live. Whether we were told by our mom or dad, grandma and grandpa. Influenced by movies, music, and now social media! Something or someone is ALWAYS telling you what your life should be like. ALWAYS providing statistics and metrics of what success should be or look like in our lives. BUT WHERE IS THE FREEDOM IN THAT?! Where have we left room for LIFE TO HAPPEN? Is there no room for error, mistakes, ups and downs, heartbreak and disappointment? We ALL know far too well that life very seldom happens as we so called planned it, hell or even in that particular order. In fact for me it didn't happen that way AT ALL!

My journey has been one that may not be ideal for most. You may have very well heard a story similar to mine. Maybe it is your story that is similar to mine. But it is MY journey that makes this unique! Unique in its own way, simply because its mine and my story alone. When you see me you may see just a young single mother trying to do the best she can to care for her daughter. Trying to make an honest living and possibly settle down with someone who will love both her and her young child. But what you don't see is that I am a young woman who prefers to be referred to as a queen, on a journey that leads her to freedom. What kind of freedom you ask? Financial freedom, creative freedom, freedom to express myself however I please! Freedom from the standards of what society tells me what or who I should be, or who I should love and or who should love me! As I go through this journey I am seeking the freedom to travel and see the world from the eyes of others. To give myself a new perspective of life and to become inspired by those whos values and life aspirations may be different than mine! I am on the journey to freedom to FREE ME!!
